Almost all my paintings and drawings rely on old family photographs as source material. I re-work images to emphasize their physical make up. I build and manipulate units, such as pixels or brushstrokes, focusing attention on images' physicality. Creating visual units as building blocks and building images out of them, I explore autobiography as a fluid, ever evolving process through which a person can both create and own identity.
